QuestERide, Inc. ("QuestERide," "we," "our," or "us") operates questeride.com and connects long-distance riders with verified drivers. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and disclose it, and the steps we take to keep it safe. By using QuestERide you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information — name, email address, phone number, password, profile photo, preferred language, and role (rider or driver).
- Identity and driver verification — government-issued ID, date of birth, home address, Social Security Number (last four digits, U.S. drivers only), driver's license, motor vehicle records, and criminal background information used to complete Checkr checks.
- Vehicle information — make, model, year, license plate, insurance policy details, and photos.
- Trip and location data — origin, destination, departure date, seats requested, luggage, driver bids, live GPS location while a trip is active, and route history.
- Payment information — billing name, ZIP code, payout bank details, and transaction history. Full card numbers are collected and stored by our payment processor, Stripe — we never see or store them.
- Communications — messages you exchange with other users, support requests, and SOS or safe-word activations.
- Device and usage data — IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URLs, pages viewed, and cookies (including analytics cookies).
- Content you share — photos, videos, and QuestReels clips you choose to post or share to third-party social networks.
2. How we use your information
- Create and manage your account and authenticate you.
- Verify driver identity, run background and motor-vehicle checks, and maintain platform trust and safety.
- Match riders with drivers, process bids, and complete trips.
- Process payments, payouts, taxes, refunds, and disputes.
- Provide live trip sharing, SOS support, and emergency-contact notifications when you enable them.
- Send transactional emails, SMS, and push notifications about your trips.
- Prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Service.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements.
- Improve QuestERide, measure feature performance, and (with your consent) send marketing communications you can opt out of at any time.
3. When and to whom we disclose your information
We disclose personal information only in the situations described below:
- Other users on the platform. Riders and drivers matched on a trip share limited profile information (first name, photo, ratings, vehicle details for drivers, and pickup location) so the trip can safely happen.
- Service providers. We share information with vendors that operate the service on our behalf, including:
- Stripe (payments, payouts, and tax calculation)
- Checkr (identity verification and background checks)
- Supabase (database, authentication, and file storage)
- Lovable Cloud (application hosting)
- Google Maps / mapping providers (routing and geocoding)
- Email, SMS, and push-notification providers
- Analytics and error-monitoring providers
- Trusted contacts you designate. If you enable live trip sharing, we share your live route and location with the people you invite until the trip ends.
- Emergency responders. If you trigger SOS or a safe-word, we share your identity, live GPS, driver details, and trip information with 911 dispatch and your emergency contacts.
- Legal and safety. We may disclose information to comply with a subpoena, court order, or other legal process; to enforce our Terms; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of QuestERide, our users, or the public.
- Business transfers. If QuestERide is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy.
- With your consent. Any other sharing you specifically authorize — for example, when you post a QuestReel to TikTok, Instagram, or Reels.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own advertising or marketing purposes.
4. How we disclose information
Disclosures are made through secure APIs and encrypted database connections. Vendors access only the minimum data they need to perform their function under a written data processing agreement. Live trip sharing links are single-use, expire when the trip ends, and can be revoked by you at any time. Content you choose to share to social networks is transmitted through the operating system's native share sheet — the destination network's own privacy policy governs it from that point forward.
5. How we protect your information
- Encryption in transit using TLS 1.2+ for all traffic between your device, our servers, and our service providers.
- Encryption at rest for our production databases and file storage.
- Row-level security and least-privilege access controls — your trip, profile, and verification records are readable only by you (and, where required, our support team acting on your behalf).
- PCI-compliant payments. Card data is entered directly into Stripe's PCI-DSS Level 1 environment; QuestERide never touches raw card numbers.
- Access controls. Employees and contractors access production data only when necessary, with SSO, multi-factor authentication, and audit logging.
- Monitoring. Continuous logging and alerting for unusual account activity, credential stuffing, and fraud.
- Incident response. If we ever detect a security incident affecting your personal information, we will notify you and applicable regulators as required by law.
No security program is perfect. You are responsible for keeping your account password private and reporting suspicious activity to us right away.
6. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you close your account we retain limited records (trip receipts, background-check outcomes, tax and payment records) for the period required by law or to resolve disputes, then delete or anonymize the rest.
7. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live (including California, Colorado, Virginia, and the European Economic Area), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, to opt out of certain processing, and to lodge a complaint with your data-protection regulator. You can update most information directly in your account. For other requests, contact us using the information below and we will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
8. Children's privacy
QuestERide is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have, we will delete it.
9. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email or an in-app notice at least 30 days before they take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
